ABSTRACT

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a slow-growing but highly recurrent malignant epithelial tumor with approximately 1% of head and neck malignant tumors, 10% of all salivary gland tumors and 30% of minor salivary gland tumors. It is detected at minor salivary glands and mouth are more common in the palate. The 5 year survival rate is between 66% and 92% and the 10-20 year survival rate is between 40% and 70%. There are studies that report that it metastasizes 10 years after the formation of the primary lesion. In this article, the patient with a 17 year history of ACC diagnosis diagnosis showing local invasion in a very wide region in the palate was presented as a case report and current information about the subject was discussed.
