ABSTRACT

Conclusion:

Partial intestinal obstruction when applied in the lactational period seems to cause destruction of the stomach mucosa and secretional cycle of the stomach mucosal glands

Results:

Assessment on light microscope and SEM showed that the stom-ach mucosa had an irregular appearance and had destruction in some cells of epithelium and had also some structural deformations in epithelium when compared to the control group

Materials and Methods:

Sprague-Dawley rats were used in this study. Partial intestinal obstruction was applied on days 7 and 14 of lactation. We used the same surgical operations in the control rats but we did not apply an obstruction. Routine electron microscopic periods were applied to both groups of stomach tissue 7 and 14 days after the applications. The assessment was done on scanning electron microscope (SEM) and light microscope with toluidine blue staining.

Purpose:

To study the possible effects of obstruction in the small intestine caused by the effect of hormonal interactions in metabolism.
