ABSTRACT
Pulmonary edema is a common problem in the acutely ill child and is charac-terized by excessive accumulation of fluid in the air spaces and interstitium. The primary determination that must be made at the outset is whether the ca-tegory of edema is cardiogenic or non-cardiogenic. We describe a case of non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema after hypertensive encephalopathy treatment fo-cusing on fluid resuscitation to increase left ventricular preload with central ve-nous monitoring and ventilatory support
