ABSTRACT
Orf is a viral disease of sheep and goats. Transmission to humans usually occurs by direct contact with an infected animal or contaminated meat. It is mostly seen in farmers, butchers, and veterinarians. Treatment is symptomatic. Local antiseptics and dressingare usually effective and sufficient in the treatment of the disease. Oral nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs can be administered to lessen inflammation and pain. Recently, antiviral agents such as topical idoxuridine, cidofovir, and imiquimod have gained popularity in the treatment of orf. In this case report we want to emphasize and remind readers of the efficacy of shave excision in the classical treatment of the disease in order to prevent the unnecessary use of these agents in the routine treatment of the disease
