ABSTRACT
Ebstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a member of Herpes-viridae. Altough elevations of liver enzymes is commonly seen during the EBV infection, acute cholecystitis is rare complication. Herein, we report cholestatic hepatitis and acute cholecystitis associated with EBV infection in an 11-year-old boy. The patient recovered with symptomatic treatment without surgery. Physicians should keep in mind that cholestatic hepatitis and cholecystitis may develop during the course of EBV-induced infectious mononucleosis and these complications will recover in parallel with clinical improvement of primary disease
