ABSTRACT

Conclusion:

Because of the early manifestations of gastrointestinal system cancers in men with DEA and women with DEA in postmenopausal period, further studies and studies should be done carefully. Within these examinations, upper and lower gastrointestinal system endoscopies have an important role. There is a need for prospective studies with a higher number of patients.

Results:

The mean age of the 125 (K: 75, E50) patients examined was 56 ± 15 (87-23). All patients underwent upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy.Upper gastrointestinal endoscopic examination revealed; pangastrit in 40%, antral gastritis in 28.8%, erosive gastritis in 2.4%, gastric ulcer in 1.6%, gastric carcinoma in 0.8%, esophageal varices in 1.6%, and duodenitis in 0.8%. Lower gastrointestinal endoscopic examination revealed; colon polyps in 25.6%, diverticular disease in 7.2%, haemorrhoids in 6.4%, inflammatory bowel disease in 5.6%, angiodisplasia in 4%, colon cancer in 4%.

Material and Methods:

In this study, 125 patients' files were reviewed for upper and lower gastrointestinal system endoscopy for the etiology of iron deficiency anemia in the endoscopy unit between 01.01.2016-01.09.2017. Demographic data and results of endoscopic procedures were recorded in the standard form ,

Aim:

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) shows a significant difference in prevalence according to countries, but it affects a significant part of world population. In this study, we aimed to present the results of upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopies performed in our unit between January 2016 and September 2017.
